How to reach Cazulas by car

local-map
Local area map

Drivers approaching from the coast should turn inland at Almuñécar and take the old mountain road (A4050 - the Palacete is at km. 43.3) towards Granada. Exactly 4km after the village of Otívar there is a turning to the left which leads to Cázulas. Those arriving from the direction of Granada should take the N323 towards Motril. After 14 km (just beyond Suspiro del Moro) on the new motorway there is a turn to the right signposted OTIVAR. Follow this approx 35 kms until you see the village of Otivar in the distance. Below and to the right is the house.

Coming from either direction, you will see the distinctive towers of the Palacete de Cázulas well before you reach the turning which is clearly marked to the Palacete along with a large sign saying ‘Central Cázulas’.

Follow this narrow tarmac road down into the valley for approximately 1.5km until you reach a small hamlet of buildings. Entrance to the Palacete de Cázulas is through the arched gateway marked ‘Cázulas’.

Difficult junction

Those coming from the coast should note that the turning off the coast road is quite easy to miss. The landmarks to look for are McDonalds and the petrol station which lie beside the main entrance into Almuñécar.

Turn off the main road as if heading for the town centre and beach, then turn first right and first right again, doubling back under the main road and heading towards JETE and OTIVAR.

Directions on leaving Málaga airport

On departing Málaga airport after going around the 1st roundabout you go up a ramp marked SAN JULIÁN (which is next to a large brewery CERVEZA SAN MIGUEL) go over the ramp, bear right and join up with the motorway (The Ronda de Málaga) going east in the direction of MÁLAGA A7 and E15 .

Follow large sign to MOTRIL/ANTEQUERA (this is the important one and will lead you to switch to another motorway), carry on then turn right at the junction signposted ALMERÍA/MOTRIL. You are then on the AUTOVÍA del MEDITERRANEO. Carry on following the large blue signs to: ALMERIA, CORDOBA, GRANADA and SEVILLA the A7,E15 and A45 . Several kms further on after leaving Málaga the motorway splits to the right to Granada, Cordoba and Sevilla (DO NOT take this) but follow signs straight on for ALMERÍA and MOTRIL.

This motorway follows the coast all the way to Nerja and very soon the new motorway extension to La Herradura. Keep following the coast road (N340) until you reach Almuñécar.

Then follow details on our maps above.
